I blame my love, passion and care for animals on my dad and grandfather. They were responsible for bringing so many pets into the home and yes some blame does lie with my mother also, who at the end of the day, actually allowed us to keep them all. As a result I grew up alongside a constant menagerie of pets (including my twin and little brother haha).
My Veterinary Nursing career kick started in 1997 after being accepted into the course and beginning a voluntary work placement offered by Alan McGregor. In 1999 I was offered a full time position where I completed my training and continued to work for 6 years. I left in 2005 to gain further experience within the industry and I worked for various clinics in full time, part time, specialist, senior and locum roles.
I also studied business and while nursing I developed and grew a business of my own offering pet care services that were in great demand. Caring for pets outside of clinic life and meeting customers needs lead me to becoming a dog groomer and starting a day care facility. I then continued to further explore other avenues and I joined a pet cremation company team where I worked for 2 years before being offered a part time position with John Fulton, back at the clinic where it all began.
In my own time I am still involved in business. I enjoy reading a really good book, relaxing around a campfire (with marshmallows of course), fishing, spending time with all of my amazing family, getting up to mischief with friends and of course spending time with my own pets. Nothing will ever beat coming home to my little dog Milly and my cheeky cat Dudley after a day at work :-)
